    Who we are looking for:

    Highly motivated, passionate organic chemists holding a PhD in organic chemistry with hands-on experience in general organic chemistry, multi-¬step synthesis, from milligram to multi-¬gram scale. Knowledge of modern analytical techniques and chemistry software/databases is not only required, but a must. Additional experience in route-¬scouting or medium-¬scale synthesis would be a plus, as well as other specific skills such as parallel synthesis and/or flow chemistry. Ability to work under time pressure and tight deadlines on research projects is important. Previous experience in industry is not required but will clearly be an advantage. Fluency in English and strong communication skills to share results (orally and in writing) are essential.

    The successful candidates must demonstrate their capabilities in problem solving and in working in an autonomous manner.

    Note: Skilled chemists holding only a Master may be considered if they demonstrate the above capabilities.

     

    When and where:

    Duration: One-year contract, renewable

    When: August 2017 (to be discuss depending on your availability)

    Where: Basel (Rosenthal area)

  • Process Chemist – Organic Synthesis

    We Are Hiring! Process Chemist – Organic Synthesis

     

    Position summary:

    In this position, you will design, plan and perform scientific experiments/plant activities for chemical synthesis development, route scouting, optimization and scale-up (up to Kg scale). You will generate and evaluate data, interpret and report results, draw conclusions and write reports. Additionally, you will actively participate in project management. The successful candidate is holding a Master or PhD degree in synthetic organic chemistry and has > 3 years of practical industry experience in chemical process R&D and manufacturing. Specifically, you will provide support to the laboratory department by performing and/or coordinating a variety of laboratory processes:

    • Perform multi-step small molecule organic synthesis experimentation (mg to Kg scale).
    • Develop / optimize synthetic routes for scalable manufacturing from customer packages.
    • Provide technical leadership as subject matter expert for projects.
    • Manage process optimization, process review, and investigation brainstorm activities.
    • Provide mentorship to junior team members.

    Qualifications

    Master or PhD degree in synthetic organic chemistry. Demonstrated laboratory skills and technical expertise in the field of process chemistry R&D (scientific publications / patent applications). > 3 years industrial experience. Experience in flow-chemistry and photo-chemistry would be an advantage. GMP experience may also be of advantage. Versatility in common IT applications (Microsoft office). Proficient use of scientific databases (SciFinder, Reaxys), chemistry softwares (ChemDraw, ChemInventory) and electronic laboratory journal (E-Notebook). Excellent organizational skills and accuracy in experimental documentation. Good communications skills and fluency in English. Knowledge of German may be of advantage. Teamwork/Interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.

  • Laboratory Technician – Organic Chemistry

    Position summary:

    This position is to perform and document routine tasks related to sample processing and assays, standard laboratory methods and/or basic laboratory techniques, functions and equipment. To conduct specific procedures and tests both within and outside of the laboratory requiring the use of applied knowledge and practical chemistry skills. The successful candidate is holding a Bachelor or Master degree in synthetic organic chemistry or equivalent. Knowledge of modern chemical and analytical techniques is mandatory.

    Specifically, you will provide support to the laboratory department by performing and/or coordinating a variety of laboratory processes:

    - Register and prepare samples for general analytical testing (NMR and MS spectroscopy) through sample receiving, data entry, weighing, physical homogenization, and shipping (FedEx/DHL/UPS). - Manage the inventory of chemical reagents and catalog substances. - Operate basic laboratory equipment. - Synthesize and handle catalog substances. - Prepare (and assure accuracy of) standards, reagents, etc. needed for analyses. - Perform routine lab and department maintenance to keep area clean and orderly. - Order chemical reagents from suppliers.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor or Master chemistry degree in synthetic organic chemistry. Versatility in common IT applications (Microsoft office). Proficient use of scientific databases (SciFinder, Reaxys), chemistry softwares (ChemDraw, ChemInventory) and electronic laboratory journal (E-Notebook).
