SPC-w147 and SPC-w148 are two new versatile reagents recently brought in the spotlight by the Katayev group @ ETH Zürich1.
These bench-stable, non-metal based and inexpensive nitrating reagents allow the slow liberation of nitrogen dioxide under unprecedentedly mild reaction conditions in order to perform versatile C−H diversification of unsaturated molecules. It is not only the first photoredox reaction that affords the nitryl radical species, it is also really simple to set up providing wealth of opportunities for chemists to discover novel and mild nitration processes.

Beyond furnishing a library of aryl β-nitroalkenes, reagents provide unparalleled access to b-nitrohydrins and b-nitroethers. Furthermore, the late-stage diversification of an extensive number of C−H partners to prepare complex isoxazolines and isoxazoles via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition is also possible!
These reagents are in stock at SpiroChem and can ship within 24h.
We can also perform the transformations you need using our benchtop blue led photoreactors (the most powerful in the world).
